ABOUT
Kate Wade is a contemporary oil painter based in South Carolina. Known for her bold use of graphic color and surrealism, Kate’s work invites viewers into her dreamlike realms where the lines blur between reality and fantasy. Recently, her art has been inspired by idioms and their visual interpretations. Her unique style combines elements of surrealism, realism, and abstraction, creating captivating works that feel both otherworldly and familiar.
Born in Twinsburg, Ohio, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kate developed a passion for art early on. She pursued her formal education in the arts, earning a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Since then, she has worked as an independent artist, showcasing her work in galleries across the country, including Art League in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Jones Art Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri. Kate currently is working as an Art Restorer at Prism Specialties where she is learning new techniques to add to her creative process and increasing her knowledge in the art world.
As Kate’s work continues to evolve, she is deepening her exploration of color, form, and metaphor, while expanding her practice to incorporate mixed media. Experimenting with new materials and techniques, she aims to add greater depth and texture to her pieces. Kate is also actively seeking art residencies and project-based opportunities to further develop her artistic vision and collaborate with new communities of artists and creatives.
